Report by Sir Knight Mark Stead on behalf of the Fourth Degree Assembly #2148

The 4th degree Knights of Columbus (Athens Assembly #2148) with help from the Athens and Winder Knights of Columbus Councils, gave away small United States flags to children on Independence Day, July 4, 2010, after all Masses at St. Joseph’s Church in Athens and St. Matthew’s Church in Winder. The Knights also collected donations for the Wounded Warriors program. The Wounded Warriors program pays for wounded veterans to leave their hospital beds and be with their families during the Christmas holiday, while still receiving the medical care they need.
Last year, the Assembly raised over $2,100 for this very worthy cause, and this year the donations from St. Joseph’s church in Athens alone has already reached over $1,900 which is nearly double last years numbers! A final total should be available soon for the entire Assembly. The Knights of Columbus are extremely grateful for the support of our Catholic community in helping those whom have sacrificed so much for our freedom!

Vivat Jesus!

I was at the 5:30 Mass and no flags were given out. I would like to add my check to the Wounded Warriors fund. Put me down for $50.00.
