The Knights of Columbus Council 6514 sponsored essay contests for the eighth grade students at St Joseph’s School and for high school students at Monsignor Donovan High School.  The theme of the contests was ” The Responsibility of a Catholic Citizen in Society”.  Cash awards were given to first, second and third place winners in each contest.  All contest entries received participatory certificates.  The winners received their awards at school events from Grand Knight John Steffl.
The eighth grade winnes were Celina Russo, first place, Mariana Byrne, second place, and Kayla Ward, third place.  The high school winners were Rebecca Rainbow, first place, Sarah Cabaness, second place, and Shelby Moss, third place.
Congratulations to the winners and thanks to all who entered the contests.  All of the entries were excellent.

The winning essays were entered into District competition.  The Athens entries won over all competition at the District level, and were entered into state wide competition.
